Senses & Sensory Illusions

Come to Your Senses...

Seeing, hearing, smelling, touching, and tasting - these are the five human senses. You can expand the senses further: the perception of temperature, body sensation, also known as depth sensitivity, and the sense of balance. We use our senses every day (mostly unconsciously) to perceive stimuli and influences from our environment.

Our senses constantly work together. This allows our brain to process all impressions and combine previously collected experiences. If one of our senses, for example, had to work completely alone, it could lead to deceptions.

Here with us, you can test and explore your senses. You have the opportunity to focus on individual senses or you can play tricks on them. Let yourself be amazed by sensory illusions and perhaps discover some limits as well.

How much tactile sensitivity do you have? Can you feel all the objects on the tactile path and can you find the right path in the finger labyrinth? In the audio memory game, not only your memory is required but also your hearing - find the most pairs and win the game! Or become a thermometer and feel the temperature of different materials with your skin.

Slanted Salon

When crossing the room, the sense of balance is fooled, as the slope of the salon does not match the angles of the objects in the room.

Finger Labyrinth

Feel your way to the correct path. Can you find the exit?

Alternatively, this station can also become a communication exhibit: Let someone describe the path to you.

Sliding Pattern

Observe the moiré effects as you slide one of the plates.

Wobble Wall

Can you stand on one leg in front of the swinging wall?

Skin as Thermometer

Do all the materials feel equally warm? Pay attention to the displayed temperatures!
